AEK BOCO (1) v Fry Club Colts (3)
06/04/06
The first re-arranged match of the season to be played in the evening. The weather was sunny but there was a bitterly cold wind blowing across the pitch.
It took just 2 minutes for
Fry’s to take the lead with Dan Buley firing a shot over the
BOCO
keeper who had come out off his line to try and narrow the angle. What a start and 1-0 up.
Fry’s soon after get a
chance to make it 2 nil when they are awarded a corner but the shot from the
cross went just wide.
32nd minute and
BOCO are awarded a free kick a third of the way into the Frys half.
A long high ball sent into
the box glances off the head of Harry Pople who rose well in an attempt to
clear the ball, but it looped up and over the full stretched Tom Ashley into
the Fry’s net. 1-1.
Straight away the play goes
up to the BOCO goal end, and after some determined work by Jack Baber, he
regains the lead again for Fry’s when he cuts the ball back and scrambles it
into the net from close range, 2-1.
Into the second half, and
the game has turned into a scrappy encounter with neither team seeming to get
the ball down and play football. It looked more like a game of volleyball using
the feet.
15 minutes into the half
Fry’s have a good chance to extend their lead when the ball comes out to the unmarked
Ryan Davis in the right hand side of the area, but his shot goes just wide.
Lewis Marcham has come on
as sub and is playing some strong football on the right.
Numerous attempts on goal
from Justin Skinner are unfortunate not to get him on the score sheet.
BOCO seem to find some
extra determination and mount attacks on the Fry’s goal area, but the back four
of Hooper, Stone, Sheehan and Curtis keep them at bay.
Fry’s safely get the 3
points of a win when a free kick awarded to them is quickly taken by Justin
Skinner who thumps it up field. It is chased down by Dan Buley who gets to it
just before the advancing BOCO keeper and chips the ball over him and into the net.
This is the score line the
game ends on after what seems a never ending second half.
Well done lads, another win
which goes to hopefully helping you to securing a high position in the division
at the end of the season.
